Civitan Club Panormitan: Culture, Social Engagement, and Community Awareness (May–June 2025)
Between May and June 2025, the Civitan Club Panormitan, led by President Antonella Lupo, promoted a series of meaningful cultural and social initiatives that highlighted the Club’s strong commitment to art, human rights, and community inclusion. Across these events, Civitan Club Panormitan reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening cultural life, promoting civic responsibility, and supporting meaningful social causes—key pillars of Civitan’s mission to build more aware, inclusive, and compassionate communities.
A Celebration of Arts and Literature at the Salinas Museum – 3 May 2025
At the Regional Archaeological Museum Salinas, directed by Giuseppe Parello and in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Heritage and the General Director of Sicilian Identity, Mario La Rocca,
Civitan Panormitan hosted the presentation of “Muse sciamane” by Alessandra Iannotta, member of Civitan Club Italia, in the presence of Adele Mazzotta, National President of Civitan Club Italia. Musical performances were offered by “The Ensemble” of the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory of Palermo.
The event blended music, literature, and visual art, featuring an impressive performance of Le Carnaval des Animaux by students of the Mauro Visconti Conservatory, conducted by Maestro Luigi Sollima, with narration by Giorgia Migliore.
A talk by philosopher Tommaso Romano and a ceramics exhibition by artist Cananella further enriched the program, which concluded with a tasting offered by Dolceria Peluso. Artistic direction was curated by Angela Pizzoli (Marabù).
Social Cinema and Advocacy Against Gender-Based Violence – 10 May 2025
The Club partnered with the Donnattiva association for the screening of Time to Love at Mondo Auto, a powerful film addressing gender-based violence and highlighting the protection of human rights and human dignity.
President Antonella Lupo expressed deep appreciation for the film’s strong social message. The evening was marked by an emotional moment in memory of Sara Campanella, with her family present for the reading of a moving commemorative letter.
Special thanks were extended to Civitan member Nadia Lo Bosco and the Lo Bosco family for their essential contribution to the event.
Director Fabio Oddo and the cast received warm recognition for creating a film capable of awakening conscience and promoting social awareness.
Raising Awareness on Autism and Inclusion – 5 June 2025
As part of the literary festival Una Marina di Libri at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa, Civitan Panormitan hosted a public discussion on autism titled Listening Hearts.
Moderated by President Antonella Lupo, the event featured contributions from leading experts:
Giovanna Gambino, Director of the Autism Spectrum Disorders Unit (ASP Palermo), Marina Bellomo, psychotherapist and founder of the Delfini Blu team, Sofia Lo Bianco, and Rosi Pennino, founder of ParlAutismo.
Through scientific insights and personal testimonies, the meeting highlighted the need for improved inclusion, better support tools, and a deeper understanding of lived experiences. A message from Palermo’s Mayor Roberto Lagalla offered institutional support and encouragement to continue promoting awareness on this importan topic.
