Canadian clubs and members have an at-large status; therefore, there is a dedicated series of policies in the Civitan International policies.  The series defines geographic areas with a leadership option; dues structure with associated membership benefits; and allows more flexibility in requirements to match local operations and governments. The policy outlines the requirements for “Club in Good Standing”, which is more flexible to the operations of clubs outside the United States.

So, what does this mean for you? Here’s a quick overview:

1. Canadian dues are $18.00 USD per member, per year, billed quarterly and paid quarterly.

2. The membership benefits associated with this dues structure are clearly and explicitly outlined in the policy.

3. Per International policy, all clubs in Canada are considered part of the Canadian Division, likewise, European clubs are part of a European Division, etc. There are no dues or fees associated with belonging to a division — it is purely for organizational and data purposes. 4. Canadian Civitans have the option to adopt a unified leadership structure for the division under the title of General Secretary. The role of General Secretary, along with its description and duties, is outlined in policy when the division chooses to appoint.
5. Canadian clubs and members are encouraged to participate in international programs such as Junior Civitan events, International Competitive Awards, and International Conventions and Elections. To participate in International Elections, a registered delegate’s club must be considered in good standing per the Club in Good Standing policy referenced above.
6. Clubs shall keep their member data accurate and up to date, so online member anniversary lists and sponsorship honor rolls may be published and headquarters can immediately engage new members with Civitan communications.

Canadian Club Officer Responsibilities:

1. Complete the Canadian Club Compliance Form (linked on the right sidebar of this page) each year to be considered a club in good standing.
2. Complete additions and deletions to update International member records to match club rosters.
3. Watch for your club’s membership dues invoice to be emailed each quarter, reflecting membership totals as of the close of the prior quarter. No other Division dues, fees, or payments will be assessed.
