Civitan International relies on its members to take volunteer leadership roles within their clubs, districts and on a global scale.  The international organization is guided by 10 members from across the United States, with guidance from clubs in at large countries like Canada, Germany, South Korea That board and international operations are supported by a staff at Civitan International’s world headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. We have a rich legacy of Past International Presidents, which started with our founder, Dr. Courtney Shropshire.

Civitan International has been a leader among other service groups when it comes to several issues.  The organization was the first to integrate and the first to allow women as official members.
