REMINDER – GIVING TUESDAY IS DEC. 2nd
This December 2nd, join the global movement of generosity and give to Civitan International on Giving Tuesday. Your gift helps support the mission and work of Civitan International. Set your reminder today to remember to make your donation on Tuesday, Dec. 2nd.
Reminder: Due to our current software changes, we will be unable to accept E-checks for donations and Civitan payments until our software transition is complete. We are only able to take debit and credit card payments online and checks can be mailed with this form attached to PO Box 382857 Birmingham, AL 35238 (must be postmarked by Dec. 2nd to count for Giving Tuesday).

Positions open for the 2026 Civitan International Convention Elections are:
- International President-Elect, 2026-2027
- International Director, Region Three 2026-2029
- International Director, Region Four 2026-2029
- International Director, Region Seven 2026-2028
Running for an international board position means stepping into a leadership role that guides the direction, policies, and long-term vision of Civitan International. Board members are expected to represent their regions, support club growth and engagement, and uphold the organization’s mission.

WELCOME, TERRE SICANE CIVITAN CLUB!
We are excited to announce the upcoming charter ceremony of the newest addition to the Civitan family, the Terre Sicane Civitan Club of Sicily, is scheduled for December 19. We look forward to the article and photos of the celebration and will provide in our December Civitan Connect Newsletter. EXCITING NEWS: CIVITAN MEMBER PORTAL COMING SOON!
Civitan International is rolling out a new membership portal, MemberSuite, designed to provide a smoother, more user-friendly experience for all members.
Throughout December, we’ll be gathering helpful resources including how-to videos, webinars, and training tools to guide you through the transition. We know the holidays can be a busy time, so please look out for more information on these at the top of the year!
We’re also looking for Power Users—ideally one in each region—who will be among the first to explore the new portal. Power Users will receive special admin rights, enabling them to assist fellow members in their area. If you’re interested in becoming a Power User, please email growth@civitan.org.

IMPORTANT NEWS
2024-2025 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVE AWARDS PROGRAM
All clubs are encouraged to apply and showcase your best projects by Dec. 1st! The application process has been streamlined to make submission as simple as possible. Applications are submitted electronically, allowing for distribution to a committee of widespread judges. There will be three winners in each category at the Region level, and three winners in each category at the International level.
Civitan clubs are doing amazing work in their communities, and should be recognized for it, as well as use this opportunity to share ideas and best practices with other clubs. To learn more about the award categories, and submit an application, visit www.civitan.org/awards.
DON’T FORGET THE IRS 990 FILING DEADLINE
United States Civitan clubs, as tax-exempt organizations, must annually file a Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service. There are no exceptions to this requirement. Most Civitan entities have a deadline of February 15, 2026, based on a fiscal year-end of September 30 and file a simple 990-N e-postcard online.
A club should never pay to file a required 990-N. There are several e-file providers who may contact a member of your club. Do not be fooled. You should always file directly with the IRS for free. It is simple and goes directly to the IRS, not through a 3rd party provider.

CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS EXPLAINED
Around this time of year, many Civitans over the age of 70 have questions about Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) and Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs). So, our staff went out to collect information and research the facts. It is rather confusing so although this article will share what we discovered, it is always best for you to research your specific situation and consult your tax advisor and/or investment advisor.
