Junior Civitan Corner: Board Updates, Building Clubs & Awareness Week Prep
The 2026–2027 Junior Civitan International Board officially kicked off their term on July 20th, bringing fresh energy and a strong focus on growing our youth membership. As Junior Civitan Awareness Week approaches this September (21–27), now is the perfect time for senior clubs to partner with local students and inspire the next generation of leaders. Here is a look at what the new board discussed and how your club can get involved!

• The 2026-2027 Junior Civitan International Board met for the first time on Monday, July 20th. In attendance were the entire board and senior Civitan representatives: President BrookeLynn Curry (Region 2), Vice President Olivia MacCrae (Canada Division), Directors Aneesa Haruna, Kayla McCarthy, Georgia Heilig (Region 3). 

• Olivia MacCrae spoke on her concern for declining junior membership in Canada, and her ongoing efforts for rebuilding clubs in the division. MacCrae is planning to speak to senior clubs about strengthening their support for the Junior Civitan program.  

• No matter what your region, Junior Civitan clubs are a key part of the Civitan International community and pipeline. If you’d like to have a JCI Board member or representative speak to your club about the Junior Civitan program, email emily@civitan.org. 

• September 21-27 is Junior Civitan Awareness Week! Here are some ideas on how to partner with your local Junior Civitan clubs or start building one this September. Start planning now, so when school starts, your club is ready to help spread the Civitan spirit! 

• Host a recognition banquet at your venue—invite Junior members and their parents to celebrate the week, hand out awards, and share the Civitan story. 

• Team up on a service project off-campus—a park cleanup, a food drive, or a car wash or bake sale—with Junior and Senior members working side by side. 

• Boost recruitment through the school—connect with the principal and Junior advisor beforehand to supply flyers, materials, or a presentation for student officers to deliver. 

• Hold a parent-and-member open house—an evening info session at a neutral spot where prospective families can learn about the club and ask questions.
