By Arsene KibukilaCharter President, Civitan Club of Uganda – Pioneer
The Civitan movement has officially taken root in Uganda. Our first Civitan fellowship meeting marked not only the beginning of a new club, but also a historic milestone for Civitan International in East Africa.
As Charter President, I had the honor of leading this inaugural fellowship and introducing members to the mission, objectives, history, and global interventions of Civitan International. This first gathering laid the foundation for a strong, values-driven Civitan presence in Uganda.
Teaching the Civitan Mission and Values
During this fellowship, I personally guided members through the core mission of Civitan International: to build good citizenship by empowering communities and improving the lives of people with special needs and vulnerable populations.
We explored Civitan’s objectives, including:
Promoting service leadership
Strengthening community development
Encouraging ethical responsibility and inclusion
Supporting education, peace, and humanitarian action
Understanding Civitan’s history helped our members realize that we are now part of a global legacy of service, built on compassion, action, and unity.
Civitan Club of Uganda: A Pioneer Movement
The Civitan Club of Uganda proudly stands as the pioneer of Civitan International in Uganda. This responsibility places us in a unique position: all eyes are on us as we shape the future of Civitan in the country.
Our vision goes beyond one club. We aim to:
Expand Civitan clubs across Uganda
Inspire the growth of Civitan throughout East Africa
Contribute to the wider development of Civitan International across Africa
We believe Uganda can become a model country for Civitan growth on the African continent.
Looking Forward: Growing Civitan in Africa
This first fellowship was not an endpoint, but a starting signal. It confirmed our collective commitment to service, leadership, and international cooperation.
With guidance from Civitan International and collaboration with partners, we are confident that Civitan will grow strong roots in Uganda and flourish across Africa — empowering communities, shaping leaders, and serving humanity.
Civitan lives through action.
And in Uganda, that action has begun.
