Our vision is to be a global community where people of all abilities and talents make the world a better place.
Civitan Changes Lives
Civitan is the only service organization dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and through the Civitan International Research Center, we are helping find cures and develop treatments for autism, Rett syndrome, Down syndrome and many more brain-related disorders.
Civitans are Champions of Service
Civitan offers people of all ages the opportunity to selflessly serve their communities and make the world a better place. Whether building wheelchair ramps, developing inclusive playgrounds or fundraising for the Civitan International Research Center, we are a hands-on organization ready to roll up our sleeves to positively impact individuals in our communities.

Since the beginning, Civitans have united under a universal mission rooted in service. Spanning more than 20 nations in North America, Africa, Europe, Asia and the Pacific Islands, Civitan is truly a global organization dedicated to serving others.

Civitan is making a difference in our local community through service projects. We meet monthly and have a variety of options for members to choose from that are making a difference in the lives of those around us.
Sun City Civitans Support Our Georgia Veterans
Several members of Sun City Civitan Club visited the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville to deliver cookies and bingo prizes made and donated by our club members.
Sun City Civitan Club’s Monthly Meeting & Luncheon
Guest Speaker Melissa Howard, Director of People First of Henry County, discussed the organization’s mission to provide free social activities for special needs families. She shared her personal journey with People First, highlighting the lack of activities for special needs individuals and the organization’s efforts to fill this gap with events like baseball games, festivals, paint parties, and race day in a suite donated by Atlanta Motor Speedway. The age range of participants in the programs, typically includes individuals aged 16 to 65. Stepping Stones Educational Therapy Center Receives Sun City Civitan Check & Student Scholarships
Our largest annual fundraiser, the Sun City Civitan Golf Tournament and Silent Auction, funds our Sun City Civitan Scholarship Program. We offer Scholarships to children of all ages in the Griffin/Spalding County area. These students attend Stepping Stones. www.steppingstonesschool.org Other scholarships are given to youth and adults to go to summer camp at Camp Big Heart!
Annual Holiday Party With Our Friends at Griffin Area Resource Center (GARC)
Our favorite party of the year! This fun event our Club sponsors each year brings joy to our friends at GARC and probably even more happiness to the Civitans that attend. We all sing holiday songs, eat ice cream, play BINGO & other games, and create artwork & other crafts. Our Club over the years has donated laptop computers, much needed wheelchairs for evacuation emergencies, a karaoke machine, gasoline for the bus…whatever GARC needs we try to help. www.griffinarc.org
Sun City Civitan Annual Golf Tournament 09/23/24
Funding our Mission of serving our Special Needs Community. Scholarships and Special Projects for Stepping Stones Educational Therapy Center, the Griffin Area Resource Center, (GARC) and Camp Big Heart, we are presently able to serve 3-year-olds through senior citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Sun City Civitan Silent Auction
SILENT AUCTION IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Where? Sun City Golf Club (in Pro Shop) – Griffin GA Saturday 9/20 10a-7p Sunday 9/21 8a-5p Monday 09/22 8a-12n Who benefits? Proceeds go into the Sun City Civitan Scholarship Fund which offers educational scholarships and special projects/programs for Individuals with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities, also called I/DD. This past year our Civitan Club awarded (3) educational scholarships to children with I/DD and sent (3) others to summer camp.

Sun City Civitan 10th Annual Golf Tournament
Annual golf tournament to raise funds to support the Sun City Civitan Club Scholarship Program. Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in the Griffin/Spalding area.
