ABOUT CIVITAN

Our vision is to be a global community where people of all abilities and talents make the world a better place.
Civitan Changes Lives
Civitan is the only service organization dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and through the Civitan International Research Center, we are helping find cures and develop treatments for autism, Rett syndrome, Down syndrome and many more brain-related disorders.
Civitans are Champions of Service
Civitan offers people of all ages the opportunity to selflessly serve their communities and make the world a better place. Whether building wheelchair ramps, developing inclusive playgrounds or fundraising for the Civitan International Research Center, we are a hands-on organization ready to roll up our sleeves to positively impact individuals in our communities.
Civitan Spans The Globe
Since the beginning, Civitans have united under a universal mission rooted in service. Spanning more than 20 nations in North America, Africa, Europe, Asia and the Pacific Islands, Civitan is truly a global organization dedicated to serving others.
SPOTLIGHTS
Birmingham Civitan is making a difference in our local community through service projects. We meet monthly and have a variety of options for members to choose from that are making a difference in the lives of those around us.
Supporting Those With Disabilities
Our club partners with the Civitan International Research Center on many different initiatives. During the holidays, we make spirits bright at the Civitan-Sparks Clinics by decorating the waiting room Christmas tree.
Our Projects
Birmingham Civitan Club members love to give back to the community. Our projects have included serving meals to families at the local Hope Lodge, holding a food drive for veterans, and making sensory kits for emergency personnel to use in accidents that involve people with autism
Informative Speakers
Our meetings bring members the latest information on community needs and new opportunities to serve. From sharing programs on employment needs for those with intellectual and development disabilities to teaching citizenship in local schools, we’ve welcomed a variety of guest speakers in the past year.
CLUB INFO
Civitan is more than just a club. It is a a family of members making an impact around the globe everyday through service.
