ABOUT CIVITAN
Our vision is to be a global community where people of all abilities and talents make the world a better place.
Civitan Changes Lives
Civitan is the only service organization dedicated to serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and through the Civitan International Research Center, we are helping find cures and develop treatments for autism, Rett syndrome, Down syndrome and many more brain-related disorders.
Civitans are Champions of Service
Civitan offers people of all ages the opportunity to selflessly serve their communities and make the world a better place. Whether building wheelchair ramps, developing inclusive playgrounds or fundraising for the Civitan International Research Center, we are a hands-on organization ready to roll up our sleeves to positively impact individuals in our communities.
Civitan Spans The Globe
Since the beginning, Civitans have united under a universal mission rooted in service. Spanning more than 20 nations in North America, Africa, Europe, Asia and the Pacific Islands, Civitan is truly a global organization dedicated to serving others.
SPOTLIGHTS
Full Circle ACTION Civitan is making a difference in our local community through service projects. We meet monthly and have a variety of options for members to choose from that are making a difference in the lives of those around us.
Supporting Community Connections with ACTION
Full Circle ACTION Civitan serves needs in the local community throughout the year. ACTION – Active Citizens Taking Initiative On Needs. A few events include Halloween Carnival (partnership with City of Sapulpa OK) with Sensory Hour – reduced lights/noise to support individuals with sensory challenges; Sensory Bags for First Responders, Winter Baskets for families with members with disabilities.
Supporting Research – CIRC
The Civitan International Research Center (CIRC) in Birmingham, Alabama, is dedicated to improving the lives of people with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Civitans help fund their research, education, and clinical services through Civitans at the Helm, Walk & Roll, and other fundraising efforts. It is exciting to see the results of their work with autism, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, and other disorders.
Civitan Impact Area Project of the Year
Full Circle ACTION Civitans presented a check for $5000.00 to the City of Glenpool for inclusive playground equipment and a universal changing station. Civitan Impact areas: Accessible & Inclusive Communities, Health & Wellness, Family & Community Support. “The City is excited to partner with Civitan to enhance inclusivity and ensure that children of all abilities can enjoy our [BlackGold] park.
Best Buddies Oklahoma
Full Circle ACTION Civitan has joined with Campus Civitans and other Civitan clubs across Oklahoma to participate in the Best Buddies Walk, supporting inclusion. “Best Buddies gives people with special abilities a chance to make friends, speak up, be heard and advocate for themselves and others within their community.” (bestbuddies.org/oklahoma/)
