Civitan International is currently looking for an elite group of Civitans dedicated to preserving the organization.
Announcing The 1917 Club!
In 1917, a small group of people in Birmingham, Alabama decided to start a club to help their community. They soon realized many communities need a volunteer service club to serve local needs. The new 1917 Club honors that tradition by promoting Civitan and community service in new club building sites. The 1917 Club is led by the President of Civitan International and a group of committed Civitan leaders with a common goal: Bring Community Service and Civitan to every community!
Participants: Any member interested in helping preserve the organization by building and rebuilding clubs. New “recruits” will be announced each summer, prior to and at the Civitan International Convention.
Function: Members will actively take part in the goals set forth in Civitan International’s strategic growth plan. Tasks assigned to these members include but are not limited to:
- Identifying club building sites in their respective areas
- Serve on a club building team
- Supporting a new club after its charter
- Participating in a multi-day blitz of a community where a club is being built
- Supporting a club charter or club activity
- Help coach new clubs in either in-person or virtual settings
Civitan Support: There will be several initiatives related to the 1917 club that will benefit the professional and civic development of those who participate. These items include but are not limited to:
- Trainings that are specific to relationship building, sales, recruiting volunteers
- Specific customized training and fellowship at each international convention
- Club building resources
- Convention registration fee discount each year dependent on service in the 1917 Club, starting 2024
- A unique 1917 Club pin to wear when among other Civitans
- Reimbursement of approved expenses related to club building
- Other branded items that recognize 1917 club membership
- Benefit for builder’s home club if it sponsors a new club
What We Need Help With:
- Identifying club building sites
- Building new Civitan clubs
- Supporting clubs as they develop
- Accomplishing the growth plan for the international organization
Requirements:
- Attend a training at 2023 convention
- Commit to build a club upon direction
- Possible travel pending assignments
- Frequent check-in calls
- A helpful and willing spirit to grow Civitan
