The Clayton Center
The Clayton Center Community Service Board provides services that minimize the impact of mental illness, developmental disabilities and substance abuse in the lives of persons served and their families while supporting their inclusion in the community. Services are provided at five primary locations and numerous residential settings, and are tailored to meet the needs of individuals and their families.
The Clayton Center Community Service Board is a regular partner of the Metro Atlanta Civitan Club.
Let’s Create a Quiet Room!
Civitans, let’s show our commitment to improving the lives of individuals with I/DD. We’re going to help The Clayton Center outfit a new Quiet Room—a peaceful, low-stimulation space designed for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) who need a safe place to regulate, decompress, or take a break. The goal of The Clayton Center is to assure inclusion within the community, but for some individuals the anxiety of inclusion can be challenging. We want to provide a safe “quite “ space for them when “inclusion” becomes too loud.
Your contributions are helping purchase larger items like soft seating, dimmable lighting, weighted blankets, calming visuals, and other comfort-focused tools that make this space truly therapeutic. Quiet Rooms are essential in supporting emotional wellbeing and providing a refuge from overstimulation, especially in busy or unpredictable environments.
Together, we’re creating not just a room, but a resource—one that honors the needs and dignity of every individual.
Sensory Friendly Items Donation Drive
Help us support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) by donating sensory-friendly items to The Clayton Center. Sensory tools—like fidget toys, noise-canceling headphones, weighted items, or textured objects—can make a world of difference for people who experience sensory sensitivities. These items help reduce anxiety, promote focus, and provide calming support in overwhelming environments.
By donating items which can be assembled in to packets of sensory-friendly items, we’re offering not just tools—but dignity, comfort, and inclusion. Your donation supports the vital work of The Clayton Center and helps ensure that individuals with I/DD have access to everyday tools that empower them to participate more fully in their communities.
