Honor Club Every club in the Heartland District should be dedicated throughout the year to achieve Honor Club status. It just takes a little hard work and the requirements are flexible.

DISTRICT NOMINATIONS FOR 2017-2018 ARE CLOSED.
Awards Process: The awards period will run from July 1st through June 30th. A club must be in good standing with the District and Civitan International in order to receive an award.
Option 1: Clubs may write about their projects in their club newsletter and distribute it to the Governor, Governor-Elect and Awards Chair. The article should be in sufficient detail so that any reader can see the impact the project had on the community in terms of Service, Knowledge, and Fellowship, the amount of club participation and key leaders.
Option 2: The club also has the option of writing up the project on the generic Awards Nomination Form below and sending it to the Awards Chair. Nominations for persons to receive individual awards can be handled with the same form. All Nominations forms must be mailed to the District Awards Chair and postmarked by the deadline of July 15, 2018.
The following awards may be presented to only one individual per year and may be nominated by any Civitan in the Heartland District.
- District “Civitan of the Year”
- Jim Berryman “Civitan of the Decade”
- District “New Member of the Year”
- District Honor Key (A maximum of 3 may be presented per year.)
The following award may only be nominated by Area Directors, the Governor-Elect, and/or the Governor.
• Most Outstanding Club President
The following award may be nominated by the Host Club of the District Convention and/or the Governor.
• District “Citizen of the Year”
The following award may be presented to all that qualify and shall be nominated by the Governor and Governor-Elect.
• Distinguished Area Director
The following are awards to clubs which may be nominated by the respective club. (Only one award will be presented per category. At the discretion of Awards Committee, an Honorable Mention may be recognized.)
- Project of the Year
- Service to Persons with Intellectual/Developmental or Physical Disabilities
- Service to Youth
- Service to the Community
- Service to the Elderly
- Service to Veterans
- Service to Homeless
- Outstanding Club Speakers and Programs
- Outstanding Club Bulletin/Newsletter*
- Outstanding Club Scrapbook*
- Outstanding Club Web Site
- Outstanding Billboard Placement
The Club of the Year shall be selected by the Award Committee with nominations received from Area Directors, Governor-Elect and Governor.
Note: The Committee and District Board have discretion and may elect to not present an award for a particular category if minimum requirements or criteria are not met.
International Awards may be presented at a District Convention, District-wide Meeting or Area Meeting if the recipient was not present to receive the award at the International Convention.
